an introduction
Dear Sir or Madam,
Wood has accompanied me as a never forgotten love from the very early age, but in the last few years it is taking the shape of string instruments by means of my hands and chisels.
My studio, the fruition of the years of work and gaining knowledge, is a small, now formally recognised workshop on the outskirts of Laško. In it I produce yearly approximately eight to ten instruments.
I practise the hand-making of string instruments which devotedly complies with the manner of production of the pioneers of this tradition. The demanding work and the time it takes to hand make an instrument presents a restriction to a greater number of products. Each particular part of a violin or viola is the fruit of the work of my hands, using traditional hand, carving and carpenter’s tools.
During
production, repair or restoration each instrument receives the same amount of
attention regarding the choice of excellent materials, the same effort,
patience and precision of production of every single part of the construction
and the instrument as a whole, regardless of the fact if the instrument is to
be held by a student or a professional musician.
I have received good critique of my products from some amateurish and some highly regarded music teachers and professional musicians. I take them as a proof and message that the manner of work I have decided on is the right way to achieving recognition and respect of my work from those who are called most to judge it.
